Discovering Orihuela
ORIHUELA town hall’s January series of tourist routes are aimed at bringing residents of the Costa closer to the municipality’s San Anton fiestas, amongst other things.
A total of eight routes will take place throughout the month.
Registration at www.ori huelaturistica.es is essential, and further information can be obtained via WhatsApp on 673 836 385.
With the exception of the January 14 outing, which is in English, all routes are in Spanish.
Here is the schedule: Friday, January 12
at 17.00: Visit to the San Francisco convent and Monserrate sanctuary, situated in the Rabaloche district. Leaving from Plaza de Monserrate
Saturday, January 14 at 17.00: Visit looking at the life and work of the Orihuela poet Miguel Hernández. Meeting at the Miguel Hernández house museum
Sunday, January 14 at 10.30: Palmeral palm grove and San Anton fiestas tour in English. Leaving from the bus stop at Colegio Santo Domingo. A free return bus service is running from Orihuela Costa town hall,
leaving at 09.00 and stopping off at Entrenaranjos urbanisation at 10.00. The return journey will start at 15.00
Friday, January 19 at 17.00: Santo Domingo college and Orihuela cathedral visit. Leaving from Plaza del Salvador Saturday, January 20 at 11.30: Colinas de Campoamor scenic walk. Leaving from Las Colinas golf club clubhouse Thursday, January 25 at 17.30: Curiosities of Orihuela Casino (cultural space) and the Teatro
Circo. Meeting at the door of the Casino
Saturday, January 27 at 11.00: Tour looking at Orihuela and the Catholic Kings. Leaving from the Santo Domingo arch Sunday, January 28 at 10.30: Visit to the Asoka animal protection charity, including a presentation and charity dog walk. Do not bring your own dogs to this event. Admission with a €5 donation. Meet at the Asoka facility in San Bartolomé
