TOAST OF THE TOWN
Planning for your soiree doesn't have to be a nerve-wracking experience. All it takes is some careful consideration and clever delegation.
There’s more to throwing a successful party than booking a stunning venue, curating a playlist and displaying gorgeous partyware. Consider these simple but often-ignored rules so you can be the host—and the toast—of the party.
TAKE A CUSTOM APPROACH
The menu is a central part of any memorable event. So instead of sticking to traditional plates, consider a bespoke menu. “It’s a great way to engage with your guests and treat them to an exceptional gastronomical experience,” says Tim Meijers, founder and chef, Tim’s Fine Catering Services.
“A bespoke menu is not only uniquely yours, but also enhances your party, bringing the event to a whole new level.”
PREPARE FOR DIETARY PREFERENCES
It’s not uncommon to encounter guests with unique dietary needs. In fact, it’s become the norm for caterers to offer vegan, gluten-free, diary-free or even pescatarian-friendly menus. One way to tackle this in buffet or canape menus is to customise a balanced offering that comprises various dishes to suit each palate. “For instance, we can curate a menu with at least two savoury items— one will be a substantial or carbohydrate item—and a dessert for guests with special diets,” he explains. Sit-down luncheons or dinners can feature curated or separate menus for guests with various dietary preferences.
KEEP IT HASSLE-FREE
The importance of service and wait staff or butlers is often overlooked when making a catering booking. In fact, service plays a crucial role at all events, as you should be free to entertain without worrying about the actual physical tasks to be done on-site. “Our butlers typically assist with clearing used tableware and serving guests. They also assist with the set-up and tear-down processes and liaise with the host and chef to ensure that everything is served on time.”
