1 REGULAR CHECKS

A healthy smile is a pretty smile, so have your teeth checked regularly (every four to six months) to make sure they’re diseasefree. Initial disease is often symptom-free, so regular checks are best.

2 ROUTINE CLEANING

Cleaning removes plaque and tartar, which can not only be unsightly (think yellow stains from coffee, tea, wine and coloured beverages) but can also cause demineralisation of the teeth, inflammation of the gums, and bad breath.

3 WHITER AND BRIGHTER

Dull teeth with internal stains can be benefit from both in-office whitening or home whitening. In-office whitening is instant, while the at-home process takes 10 to 14 days to see the effect.

4 CHOOSING VENEERS

Porcelain veneers are suitable for worn-down yellow teeth that can’t be whitened by teeth whitening. Veneers can rejuvenate a smile and make the teeth look 10 to 20 years younger.

5 STRAIGHTEN THAT SMILE

Invisalign or invisible aligners can straighten crooked teeth and move them back into perfect alignment for a beautiful smile and bite balance. Plus, nobody knows you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment because they’re not noticeable.

6 SWAP OUT THE SILVER

Amalgam (or silver) fillings consists of 50 percent mercury that gets released over time, emitting a vapour that can be absorbed into the bloodstream. Consider replacing them with composite or stronger ceramic filling, which are tooth-coloured and sturdy. This will also prevent teeth from cracking.
