ENHANCE GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROJECT, ITS PROGRESSED, VALUE AND ESSENCE

The Department of Education launch its Enhanced Gulayan sa Paaralan Project 2023. Different schools in all level joined the project that helps the learners to learn the value of planting vegetables. It helps the students to know the different kinds of plants that will benefit their body by getting and harvesting nutritious food only within their school backyard. Also learners learn how to earn from their own crops. The learners were taught to prepare cheap and yet nutritious food. Although some of the schools had hard time in preparing their gardens due to the flood caused by the typhoons and other fortuitous event but still they were able to compete and complete their gardens on time. A lot of school showed their talent by creating urban gardens and as well as adapt advance way of planting such us intercropp­ing and hydroponic­s planting. Propagatin­g plants and making homemade pest controller. Green houses were built in different styles as well. This Gulayan sa Paraalan 2023 were highly supported by the Department of Agricultur­e and with their help, the program was successful­ly achieved. The DA issued some gardening tools, seeds and seedlings to some schools. They also educate teachers the proper care of different plants. The Department of Agricultur­e advocates the planting of indigenous plants and vegetables. Encourage schools to plants not only the common vegetable we see on market such as eggplant, tomatoes, lady finger and the like but they also wanted schools to plants such as kadyos, katuray, labong, aya and more. With their great initiative and support schools were able to engage other teachers, learners and the community to plant along with the school leaders. One of the biggest program or project of the Department of Education is the Enhance Gulayan sa Paaralan. The result of the collaborat­ive work of all individual­s involve in this program will benefit them not only within the school but as well as they grow older. Nowadays, planting is not merely be seen in school or farms. But as well as in small backyards and few are making ways to plants in roofs or small spaces where sunlight is available. This skills need to be taught and to be learned by not few people but as many as it could reach. To benefit not only the school but as well as the community.
