Baguio attains 45% of target revenues in April
BAGUIO CITY — The Summer Capital has already collected 45 percent of its target revenues for this year, the City Treasury Office reported on Friday.
Assistant City Treasurer Fernando Ragma Jr. said that from January 1 to April 30, the total collection of the local government from both internal and external sources reached P1.205 billion, which is already 45 percent of the targeted P2.7 billion tax collection of the city for the whole year.
Ragma said that the tax collection for the first four months this year is P131.810 million or 12.27 percent higher compared to the P1.074 billion tax collection during the same period last year.
The city’s share from the national tax allotment (NATA) comprised bulk of this year’s tax collection with P410.812 million followed by business tax and other taxes with P390.650 million; fees and charges – P177.025 million; real property tax with advance payment – P110.890; share from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) – P62.733 million; miscellaneous fees – P25.486 million; proceeds from sale of local government assets – P15.309 million; and interest income – P13.076 million.
Ragma said that the local government will likely meet its target collection by the end of the year due to the aggressive efforts being undertaken by the city to collect what is due the local government in terms of fees and charges.
On the other hand, the bulk of the local government’s collection during the same period last year came from the city’s NATA share with P387.614 million followed by business tax and other taxes with P306.175 million; fees and charges – P179.581 million; real property tax with advance payment – P112.349 million, share of the local government from PEZA – P68.232 million; interest income – P10.805 million; proceeds from sale of assets – P6.183 million; share from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office – P2.388 million; and miscellaneous fees – P845,298.42.
