Hospital facilities in Bocaue inaugurated

- FREDERICK SILVERIO

MORE beds in the ward section and intensive care unit have been added to the Joni Villanueva General Hospital (JVGH).

The turnover of the hospital beds was held at the hospital’s third floor facilities in a ceremony graced by Sen. Joel Villanueva on Tuesday in Barangay Igulot, Bocaue, Bulacan.

Villanueva, together with DoH Region 3 Director Corazon Flores and Dr. Renely Tungol, medical chief of JVGH, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony which coincided with the fourth death anniversary of Mayor Joni Villanueva, who died on May 28, 2020.

“This turnover of the third floor of JVGH main building is a symbol of empowering our people — doctors, nurses, and health workers,” said Villanueva.

According to Tungol, JVGH now has a capacity of 81 beds which is now under Level 1 category of the DoH.

A memorandum of agreement was also signed with eight municipalities in the province of Bulacan where treatment and services at JVGH will also be provided.

This includes Plaridel, Obando, Norzagaray, Guiguinto, Pandi, Balagtas, Bulakan and other towns in the province.

Villanueva and Tungol received the PhilHealth Konsulta program and Ambulatory Surgical Clinic certificates from PhilHealth Bulacan Branch Manager Allan Granali as additional medical programs and benefits that will be provided by JVGH.

Also present at the event were 5th District Rep. Ambrosio Cruz Jr., Mayor Elena Germar of Norzagaray, Plaridel Mayor Jocell Vistan, Mayor Ding Valeda of Obando, and other officials.

It has been a year and five months since the facility became a general hospital, offering a diabetes treatment package that also includes hypertensive care, gynecologic screening package, and free surgery.

It also has a Malasakit Center and is now a PhilHealth Consultant and Ambulatory Surgical Center.
