Oman U20 team gears up for AFC Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers
Oman Under 20 team head coach, Ahmed bin Mubarak al Alawi, announced on Thursday the national team list for the overseas camp ahead of the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers which will take place in Dushanbe city, Tajikistan during September 21 to 29.
The junior Red Warriors will meet in Group E qualifiers alongside Malaysia, Sri Lanka, North Korea and hosts Tajikistan. The 10 group winners and five best second-placed teams will advance to the finals as China will host the tournament during February 6-23, 2025. Oman team will head off to Dushanbe city on Sunday ahead of the qualifiers by few days to adapt to the environment and climate factors.
Oman will aim for their fourth presence in the Asian event and will fight for securing a spot in the expected tough qualifiers. The national team will commence their Asian campaign against Malaysia on September 21 at Republican Central Stadium while they will take on Sri Lanka on September 25. Then, Oman will play against North Korea on September 27 before they conclude their games against hosts Tajikistan on September 27. All the matches will be held at the same venue.
The team had an internal preparatory camp that ended in Muscat on Wednesday. The 10 days domestic gathering featured from two friendly games against first division league clubs which are gearing up for their opening round soon. The first friendly game against Muscat club finished in a goalless draw while Oman junior stars managed to earn a 2-1 win over Al Salam at Seeb
Stadium. Oman’s goals were netted by Said al Alawi and Majid al Farsi. In the previous camps, Oman team had played against Bausher and the match ended in a 2-2 draw while Oman team won against Seeb by 1-0.
