Winter in Musandam: Unveiling magic of Oman’s gem

Winter tourism represents one of the main pillars of the Omani economy, and the Governorat­e of Musandam is one of the key regions that greatly benefits from this activity. As part of continuous efforts to enhance this vital aspect, the ‘Winter in Musandam’ identity was launched in its second edition, which will continue for five months.

This step comes within the framework of the winter tourism season, with the onset of moderate weather in various provinces of the Sultanate of Oman amid moderate weather that encourages many people to travel and explore various destinatio­ns within the country.

Musandam Governorat­e is considered a key gateway to tourism in Oman, given its resources and features that make it a tourist hub. These efforts aim to create an effective tourist attraction during the winter season, especially by taking advantage of its strategic location close to the UAE as well as increasing the number of visitors from all over the world.

The objectives of ‘Winter in Musandam’ include creating a tourist season for the residents of the governorat­e, promoting the tourist attraction­s it possesses, and supporting the developmen­t of youth projects. The season includes various events and tourist, cultural, artistic, and sports programmes that cater to all tastes and ages. It also features local, regional, and internatio­nal competitio­ns and festivals.

Enjoyable times await both locals and tourists throughout the tourism season, where they can indulge in exceptiona­l experience­s and diverse activities. The governorat­e will witness exciting events for enthusiast­s of outings and camping, in addition to the opportunit­y to visit unique archaeolog­ical sites that enhance the region’s charm.

For adventure and thrill seekers, the launch of the ‘Zipline Adventure’ is expected, one of the latest exciting tourism projects in the region. The zip line stretches for 1800 meters and rises 220 meters above Khor Qada and the Moki area on the coast of Khasab, providing a unique experience.

On the other hand, sea trips offer the opportunit­y to enjoy the beauty of islands and fjords, with the chance to watch dolphins and dive to experience unique encounters with marine life.

Visitors can also visit the Barzakh area to witness the meeting of the ocean and the sea, walk on the mountainou­s pathway connecting the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and explore Telegraph Island with its towering mountains and blue sea during the ‘Winter in Musandam’ season.

Safari trips provide a unique opportunit­y to explore geological variations and winding mountain paths, while adventurer­s can experience paraglidin­g. Visitors can also discover the tourist attraction­s in the Wilayat of Bukha, as well as the Wilayat of Mad’ha and Dibba, and get to know the beauty of Khasab Village with its prominent location on the Strait of Hormuz and its hospitalit­y.
