Griezmann equals record as Atletico held 3-3 by Getafe

-

Madrid, Spain - Atletico Madrid’s perfect home run in Laliga came crashing down on Tuesday as they surrendered a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Getafe in a dramatic encounter.

Antoine Griezmann, etching his name in club history with a brace that equalled Luis Aragones’ record of 173 goals, seemed to have secured the win. However, Getafe fought back valiantly, capitalising on Stefan Savic’s red card just before halftime to claw their way back with two goals in the second half.

Borja Mayoral completed the comeback with a stoppage-time penalty, leaving the Wanda Metropolitano stunned and Atletico searching for answers.

The draw marks the first time Diego Simeone’s side has dropped points at home this season.

Napoli crash out

Serie A champions Napoli’s Coppa Italia dreams were shattered on Tuesday night when they suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat at home to Serie B side Frosinone in the last 16.

The stunning upset eliminated Napoli from the competition in shocking fashion.

Frosinone, playing in their first-ever Coppa Italia last 16, were the unlikely heroes of the night. Quickfire goals in the second half, with Enzo Barrenechea heading home a corner in the 65th minute and Giuseppe Caso adding another five minutes later, stunned the Napoli faithful and put the visitors in the driver’s seat.

Dortmund held

Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Mainz 05 in their final Bundesliga game of the year on Tuesday to make it four league matches without a win, piling more pressure on embattled coach Edin Terzic.
