MY FAMILY. MY GROWTH PROCESS. MY PASSION
My father was from Benin and my mum from Cameroon. Growing up as the last of 12 children my childhood was memorable; I looked up to my dad & four brothers as protectors and my mum & 7 sisters as role models. I always wanted to be a TV news presenter so when I moved to the US at 15, I studied Journalism & Business as I wanted to work in both fields. I graduated from American University with a B.A in Journalism and a minor in Business Administration. I also hold an M.S in International Public Relations and Global Corporate Communications from New York University.
I also felt very drawn to fashion – I was intrigued by the amazing ways
style could connect & influence people. I also admired supermodels and found their level of confidence very inspiring. This led me to become a professional model while in America, and I did both runway and commercial modeling, working with renowned brands & platforms. Also, I worked in corporate America for 7 years before moving back to Lagos in 2016 with a private equity firm I worked for at the time. I eventually started hosting 2 TV shows on Spice TV, and after 3 years I became a business news anchor on Arise TV from 2018 – 2019. Giving back has always been a big part of my life, and so in 2018, I decided to formally launch an NGO – the International Development Initiative In Africa (IDIA). This platform is tasked with the mission to help eradicate poverty, promote sustainable growth and development, integrate Africa in the world economy, and accelerate the empowerment of women, men & children by telling the other half of the story the world doesn't see.
And most recently, I made my debut as an actress in the remake of Nneka The Pretty Serpent, currently showing in cinemas across Nigeria. I played the role of Nneka Agu.
I had many people cheering that I, a darkskinned woman, was cast for the part, all skin is beautiful and it doesn't affect the role.
