Cross dresser, ‘Abuja Area Mama’ found dead

Across dresser, popularly known as ‘Abuja Area Mama, was on Thursday morning found dead with several injuries on his head around the Nicon Junction in Maitama District of Abuja.

The news of his death has sparked sad reactions, especially from his fans and followers.

A commercial driver, Jamilu Lawal, told our reporter that his attention was drawn to the scene around 7am when he made his first trip to the city centre.

He said, “It was on my way back that I made a stop there and heard people discussing it and went to see the corpse.

Another witness, Ikenna Martins, said many people mistook the corpse as that of a female as there wear beads, a brazier and a necklace on it, while the handbag it clutched contained items like a make-up kit and a packet of condoms.

It was learnt that the remains of the victim were later deposited at the Maitama District Hospital by policemen.

Another resident, Micheal Uzochukwu, said he suspected that the deceased might have been robbed and pushed down by suspected one chance driver.

Meanwhile, the FCT Police Commission­er, Benneth Igweh, who confirmed the discovery of the corpse, ordered for an immediate investigat­ion.

A statement by the command’s spokeswoma­n, SP Adeh Josephine, said the command control room at about 7:40 am on Thursday, received a distress call about a male corpse lying along Katampe -Mabushi express way.

According to him, a team of detectives were

immediatel­y dispatched to the scene, saying preliminar­y investigat­ions revealed that the body was that of a man fully dressed in female clothes without means of identifica­tion on him.

Mama’ passing is coming barely three days after Lagosbased popular crossdress­er, Bobrisky, regained his freedom after serving his jail term for mutilating the naira.

Bobrisky served a sixmonth prison sentence over abuse of naira notes.
