A private football league, Pro Route League (PRL) has berthed in Kwara State.

Founded by NonPareil Sports Limited, the private football league came into existence due to the need to give young football players equal opportunity to showcase their talent as their counterparts in many European countries.

According to one of the organisers, Ibrahim Zubair, the league will comprise of 10 carefully selected Football Clubs/Academies in the region that share the same vision of showcasing and harnessing young talents to the world.

He said the 10 selected teams will compete in a standard league using the home and away format.

The inaugural season, he explained, is expected to start on July 26 at the MainBowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin with matches scheduled for weekends (Saturdays and

Sundays).

Zubair revealed that all matches will be recorded and used to extract game highlights and statistics for individual players.

“These statistics will also be available on a reputable global scouting platform.

“This way, we get to market our talents to the world and create the exposure for these talents. This will always be the primary focus of the PRL” Zubair said.

He said the games are scheduled to be played at two (2) venues, the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin and Kwara Football Academy (KFA) pitch.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unicorns Football Club, Victor Awoniyi who endorsed the league donated N1m to support the initiative.

Awoniyi said he will always support any programme or initiative that will give opportunities to the younger generation to succeed.
