Minister’s aide, Kola, to help organise FCT pre-season tourney
The Media Aide to the Minister of Sports, Kola Daniel, is among those who have been listed to organise this year’s FCT Preseason Football Tournament in Abuja.
According to the General Co-ordinator, Patrick Ngwaogu, the Minister’s aide will be joined by other football administrators like the former Team Manager of Supreme Court FC Tolulope Oguntimehim and Olaoluwa Aro to deliver the best pre-season tournament this year.
He said the date of the tournament which has become the flagship of all pre-season tournaments for clubs in the northern part of the country will be announced soon.
Ngwaogu said the tournament has effectively served the interest of clubs in the past five seasons.
The former Vice Chairman of the FCT Football Association reiterated that clubs in the past used the tournament to prepare effectively for new football seasons.
“We have informed the teams because this edition will be specifically for the NPFL and NNL teams in the region, and the date of the tournament which will serve as a rehearsal for teams for the new season will be announced soon.
While Nasarawa United Plateau United won the inaugural edition of the preseason tournament, EFCC Abuja are the defending champions.
It will also be recalled that Benjamin Frederick of Simonben Academy and Onuche Ogbelu were spotted by Ladan Bosso for the Flying Eagles while playing in the tournament.
Both players are presently playing professional football abroad- Frederick plays for Brentford while Ogbelu is with Tunisian giants, Esperance.
