Yobe PHCB reviews 5-year operational guidelines
The Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board, with the support from Lafiya UK Project and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has organised a five-day workshop to review the state PHC Operational Guidelines for the year 2024 to 2028.
The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana, while declaring open the review meeting in Kano, described it as as important and necessary.
Gana, represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Alh. Isa Bukar, said the review was also meant to align the guidelines with the best practices for the attainment of the universal health coverage.
He said the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni attached special attention to the healthcare of the people hence the review would further facilitate proper execution of outlined government policies and programmes on health at the grassroots level.
The Executive Secretary, of the Yobe State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr Babagana Kundi Machina, who highlighted the objectives of the review, said inputs from relevant stakeholders and the revised 2023 National PHC operation guidelines would be scrutinized for adaptation.
“It was also meant to align with the state government policy on a better integrated PHC system.
“To enrich the existing (2019) state PHC operation guideline to cover a broader integrated PHC system.
“To develop a revised PHC operational guideline that speaks to the context of Yobe State health system,” he said.
The representatives of various organisations and partners such as HMB, YSCHMA, YODMA,YEMABUS, YOHFIMA, YOSACA, UNICEF, WHO, AFENET, BMGF, CHAI, LAFIYA, SOLINA, NPHCDA as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Hon. Musa Gamcho Telah, presented goodwill messages during the meeting.
