Mountain biking is part of the DNA of locals, with the Nelson Mountain Bike Club (NMTBC) boasting 3000+ members.
Visiting riders are encouraged to join the club.
All of the membership money the club receives goes back into helping make Nelson an even better place to ride a mountain bike.
As a member you also get to take advantage of loads of club discounts from local companies saving you money on everything from bike parts to food, beer, riding and shuttles!
You can easily recoup your membership fees.

14-15 September – Gorge Opening Weekend
The Gorge is opening up for the 2024 – 2025 season on the 14th & 15th September and NMTBC is starting the season off with an opening weekend celebration of shuttles, BBQ’s, camping, fire pits and good times. There is no place like the Gorge when it is humming with the buzz of happy riders!
19 October 2024 Codgers Kids Enduro
The Codgers Kids Enduro is back again for 2024! Last year saw over 100 under 15 year olds come and have a go at racing, some for their first time! Sponsored by Tineli and Krankin Kids, NMTBC is looking forward to making it bigger and better so keep an eye out for registration this year.
October & November Super D series
Super D is coming back to town! Super D is one of the most popular NMTBC series bringing up to 200 members of the riding community together for a fun evening. Race as fast as you can, enjoy following the kids down for their first race, try and set a personal best or just get out with friends, whatever your motivation is, Super D is perfect for you!
9 November – Shred Like a Girl
Into its ninth year, Shred Like a Girl is back for 2024! This year NMTBC is taking things back to basics with Enduro on Saturday 9th November followed by a group ride out and Skills sessions on the Sunday 10th November. There will be Intermediate and Advanced Enduro options plus ride outs leading up to the event.
