A trip around the block

F-150 film star up for sale

Seeking something diŸerent? Won Lotto recently? How about an F-150 Raptor that runs on tracks like a tank?

Motorsport fans around the world are still mourning the loss of motorsport icon Ken Block, who died last year in a snowmobile crash.

Block’s Hoonigan brand has a huge range of merchandise which is selling for top dollar. Fans who want to own a piece of his legacy can now buy Block’s one-of-a-kind 2009 Ford F-150 RaptorTrax, featured in several of his Gymkhana films.

First revealed ten years ago, the RaptorTRAX was no ordinary ute. Built by SVC Offroad, it was modified to handle the most extreme off-road conditions. The interior was fitted with a full roll cage, Recaro seats, and a quick-release BBQ for impromptu celebrations. The exterior wears Monster Energy livery, Hoonigan logos, and custom fibreglass fenders.

The truck also has modified suspension with King remote reservoir shocks and custom upper and lower control arms and long bars. Other modifications include added skid plates and a custom roof rack with an LED light bar.

The stand-out modification, though, is a set of Mattracks ute tracks that enable the RaptorTrax to conquer any terrain from mud and gravel to rocks and snow. They’re designed for off-roading but, as previous videos have shown, also allow for crazy burnouts.

The engine is a tuned, supercharged, 485kW (650bhp) 6.2-litre V8. That output may not seem massive in these days of Raptor R and Ram TRX, but a decade ago it was outstanding.

Ken Block’s Gymkhana videos, were watched by millions of people around the world.

The RaptorTrax was loud, brash, and capable of anything. The perfect vehicle for someone who lived life on the edge.

Now, the RaptorTrax has a chance to find a new home with someone who appreciates automotive legacy. It’s for sale at USD$195,000.

That’s NZ$307,000 – pocket change for a Lotto winner.
