21-year-old man dies after being electrocut­ed

A young man has tragically died after he was electrocut­ed while working in a Fgura residence, the police said.

He has been named by TVM as Dylan Axiak.

The accident took place at 11.30am in Mater Boni Consilii Street.

The police said that the 21-yearold, who lives in Marsascala, was taken to hospital where he died some time later.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.

The Occupation­al Health and Safety Authority, as well as the police, are investigat­ing.

Tributes started being posted following the news of Dylan Axiak’s death. Several friends and family went to his Facebook page to express their sorrow and condolence­s over the news of his death, with Axiak being described as a good and cheerful person, and a good friend.

Many of his friends and family also said that the news of his death was a “great shock”, while others remembered him by posting several photos of him and his friends.

A car enthusiast, many posts on his page were of friends who said that they could not believe the news, and that Axiak had left the world too early.

Many said that he had a heart of gold, and a great character, and could not believe the news, given that Axiak had recently met up with them. Some even posted chat logs with Axiak.

“My friend, every day we would speak and joke, picking on each other. But today you left me without words”, one comment read.

Axiak’s girlfriend also posted a tribute, saying that she had last seen him the morning of the incident, as he left for work. She continued that she could not believe Axiak was gone, and far too soon.

She said that there was no one like him, who was always looking to cheer others up. She expressed her love towards him through photos of them together.
