Cospicua Rangers keep consistenc­y after easy win

National Blackball League leaders Cospicua Rangers continued to maintain consistenc­y throughout this season after seeing off Qormi Anici B 11‐1.

This was the fifth seasonal win for the Cospicua side who kept the three points advantage over their nearest rivals Valletta Breakwater who beat Jojo's Birzeubbuġ­a 11‐8.

Hamrun 147 A maintained the third place when they beat San Ġwann Nick's A 11‐3.

In the Regional League, leaders Hamrun 147 C made it six wins from as many games after they beat Domus Kids Żejtun A 11‐7.

Hamrun 147 D continued to climb higher in the standings after beating Kazin Pinto Qormi A 11‐5 while Selmun Bar A didn't find it easy to win 11‐9 against Valletta Fossa Boys A.

In the Community League group A, Qormi Anici D and Birkirkara Boċċi remained first after victo‐ ries of 11‐1 and 11‐6 against Mrieħel Billiard House and PL Balzan respective­ly.

On the other hand, Selmun Bar C beat San Gwann Nick's B 11‐6.

In group B, leaders San Ġwann Tiki Taka B were held to a 10‐10 draw by Qormi Anici E.

Selmun Bar B, Tac‐Caccù Qormi and Valletta Fossa Boys B had vic‐ tories over Domus Kids Żejtun B (11‐6), Qormi Anici C (11‐3) and Juve Birkirkara A (11‐9) respec‐ tively.

Leon Azzopardi wins last Nations Cup 2024 qualifier

Leon Azzopardi won the last Blackball Nations Cup qualifying tournament after seeing off Clay‐ ton Castaldi 10‐3 in the men's final.

Azzopardi was very consistent throughout the game with Castaldi who couldn't do so much against his opponent.

In the under 18 final, Denzel Fal‐ zon beat Steven Muscat 9‐7 while in the under 23 final, Matthias Debono was better than Casdy Vella as he won 9‐3.

Joseph Tabone beat Chris Galea 10‐4 in the over 40 final while Johan Grixti achieved success in the 50+ final after a victory of 10‐ 7 against Joe Camilleri.

A total of eight qualifying tour‐ naments were held from which the Maltese national team was of‐ ficially selected to compete in Bridlingto­n for this year's edition of the Nations Cup in the third week of March.
