Muslims nationwide celebrate Aidiladha
KUALA LUMPUR: Across the country, Muslims came together to celebrate Aidiladha yesterday with mosques filled with worshippers, including leaders and heads of state, reciting the takbir, praising the greatness of Allah SWT and performing the Aidiladha prayers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail joined more than 20,000 congregants at the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya for the prayers and listened to the sermon titled Aidiladha dan Kepedulian Sosial Kita delivered by the Grand Imam of the mosque Salahuddin Ghozali.
In the nation’s capital, worshippers comprising locals and foreigners performed the Aidiladha prayers at the National Mosque, led by the Grand Imam of the mosque Ehsan Mohd Husni.
In Selangor, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah joined more than 3,000 Muslims in performing Aidiladha prayers at 8.12am at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque in Bukit Jelutong.
Also in attendance were the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
In Johor, the Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim performed Aidiladha prayers at Pasir Pelangi Jamek Mosque in Johor Bahru with his brothers the Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Sultan Ibrahim, the Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim and the Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi was also present along with state government executive council members and senior government officials.
In Penang, the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and his wife Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Noor performed the prayers along with more than 2,000 Muslims at the State Mosque. They then performed the sacrificial rituals at the mosque compound.
A total of 251 cows were distributed by the Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang diPertua Negeri of Penang to 252 mosques and 25 surau under the foundation’s Korban Perdana Yayasan 2024 initiative, benefiting approximately 13,500 B40 recipients in the state.
Meanwhile, in Terengganu, residents of Kampung Banggol Chempedak in Serada near Kuala Terengganu made a difference by performing the Aidiladha prayers by the riverside in Dataran Banggol Chempedak yesterday morning, in addition to bringing food to enjoy after the prayers. – Bernama
