Adopt ‘Hemat’ values, civil servants urged

-

Civil servants need to shoulder the trust and confidence that they are responsible for based on the values of Hemat (Hijrah Tatakelola, Empati Rakyat, Minda Pekin, Apresiasi Inovasi and Telus Tadbiran), said Public Services Department Director-General Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.

He said the Hemat concept needs civil servants to always have the courage to migrate through sensitivity to the demands of current changes, carry out their duties neatly, be efficient in the execution of their duties and practise efficient communication.

“The value of Hemat needs to be in line with the Malaysia Madani policy inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the aspiration of“The Great Civil Service” introduced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, so that the implementation of the new value can later meet all the wishes that have been outlined,“he said in a statement issued by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

He was speaking during a talk titled Hemat: Penuhi Aspirasi, Pencapaian Dirasai at an event organised by the Social Institute of Malaysia on Tuesday.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan said public officers need to adhere to three principles in implementing their tasks, namely Facilitate, Accommodate and Accelerate.

He said the current way of working needs to be adjusted to meet the country’s direction and fulfil the people’s expectations.

He added that based on human relations, the values of Hemat can be practised by every leader and employee in the public sector.

“A leader should be a good listener, smart in optimising resources, inspire new ideas and be involved in enacting new laws and regulations.

“On the other hand, employees must implement all the changes set, try to understand any new changes, apply the new methods used and comply with all the new regulations.”

Wan Ahmad Dahlan also launched a book, Menjunjung Legasi Kepimpinan Wanita KPWKM, which lists eight female leaders who led the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry as secretaries-general.

The book contains notes, thoughts, philosophies, principles, and contributions of the women figures in steering the ministry and leading the development agenda and social well-being of the Malaysian community. – Bernama
