‘I WILL ADVOCATE FOR HI-TECH INVESTMENTS’
Pang unveils PH’s manifesto while PN keeps its own under wraps
PAKATAN Harapan (PH) has unveiled its manifesto for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) is still keeping its own under wraps.
The PH manifesto was announced by its candidate, Pang Sock Tao, at Ceramah Perdana at Bandar Utama Batang Kali here on Friday.
Themed “Kekal Kuala Kubu”, the manifesto outlines initiatives across various sectors to ensure dynamic economic development, efficient transport systems, faster Internet connection, environmental preservation, cultural heritage enhancement and people’s welfare.
Pang said she aimed to boost economic activities based on industrial development in Hulu Selangor, while enhancing local tourism and entrepreneurship.
“I will also advocate for hi-tech investments, which will create jobs for residents.”
Pang said she planned to implement improvements to the transport system and public amenities besides enhancing Internet speed in the constituency.
At the same time, the manifesto would not neglect environment and culture.
“Under the heritage and cultural core, I will launch initiatives to preserve and promote the heritage and culture in Kuala Kubu Baharu. I am determined to preserve and maintain the constituency as an outstanding heritage and cultural site,” she said.
More than 400 people, including the coalition’s top leaders, attended the event.
Among them were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, PH election director for the by-election Ng Sze Han, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Parti Amanah Negara president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, DAP Selangor chairman Gobind Singh Deo, its organising secretary, Steven Sim, and Selangor Umno information chief Datuk Mohd Zaidi Md Zain.
On Friday, Pang, who previously served as press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said she wanted to be a “proxy for the people” of Kuala Kubu Baharu, brushing off suggestions that she was Nga’s proxy in the May 11 polls.
PN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the coalition would unveil a manifesto when the time was right.
“We (PN) will announce it before polling day, when the time comes. For now, our offer for the constituents is a qualified and capable local candidate who understands local issues,” he said after the launch of Wanita Gempur PN in Batang Kali here yesterday.
Meanwhile, Khairul Azhari Saut, the PN candidate for the byelection, on Friday refuted allegations of him being involved with loan sharks, labelling such talk as malicious slander.
While acknowledging having business debts, he clarified that they were not owed to loan sharks.
The Election Commission fixed May 11 for the by-election following the death of Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21. The state seat would be contested by PH’s Pang, PN’s Khairul, Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
