Selangor civil servants to get salary raise as well

-

The salaries of civil servants in the state will be increased in line with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement on May 1.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said adjustments to the state salary scales would be implemented after the state government received directives on the raise at the federal level.

The state government had welcomed Anwar’s announcement on the increase in civil servants’ salaries of more than 13 per cent effective Dec 1.

“This administration will take necessary steps according to the current financial protocols, and I am awaiti n g a djustments from the federal government to synchronise with us,” he said at a press conference at the state assembly building here yesterday.

He said the salary increase should serve as an encouragement for all state civil servants, and that work productivity should always be strengthened in line with people’s expectations.

Amirudin said previously, the highest increase in civil servants’ salaries was 13 per cent, but the Madani government would ensure that it was higher than that.

Looking ahead to next year, he projected that the increase would exceed RM10 billion.

He said such substantial allocation underscored the magnitude of the adjustment, marking it as the most substantial salary increment in the country’s history.

“We will also examine it in terms of finances and how it can be accommodated.

“But at the same time, the national debt will not exceed what is appropriate,” he said at the 2024 Labour Day celebration themed “Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa” at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here.
