Adamstown see off Celtic in a thriller

Adamstown came out on the right side of a seven-goal thriller on Sunday as they edged out Gorey Celtic 4-3, with Joey Sinnott grabbing the winner deep into injury time.

An own goal had the home side ahead after ten minutes, but Patrick Doyle soon had Adamstown level. Ian White edged the visitors in front, but this time Celtic were quick to reply, as Noah Maher made it 2-2.

White grabbed his second shortly after the hour mark to put Adamstown ahead again, but three minutes later it was all square once more when Jamie Kinch hit the back of the net.

However, Sinnott had the final say as he made it 4-3 in the 97th minute.

New Ross Town also picked up three points on the road as a Cillian Thomas hat-trick earned them a 3-1 victory over Killenagh Wanderers. Billy Dunne got the goal for the hosts.

Bree United battled back from conceding the opening goal to beat Wexford Celtic 3-1 in Macmine. Stuart Hayden broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, but the hosts began the second-half brightly and Kevin Ring soon levelled matters.

Noel Roche put the home side ahead in the 63rd minute, and Dylan Dalton made sure of the victory with their third goal.

Duncannon proved too strong for local rivals St. Leonards at Ryan’s Park, winning 3-0 with goals from Josh Delaney, Finn Burke and Lennon Foley.

Meanwhile, Bunclody and Shamrock Rovers came away with a point apiece after a 2-2 draw at Church Road.

Rickey Dwyer fired the Enniscorth­y side ahead with 14 on the clock, but Steven Ryan equalised in the 27th minute.

James Molloy soon had the visitors back in front, but again Bunclody had the answer and Adam Harte made it 2-2 in the 74th minute.

Division 3A

Ferns United began the season with a five-star display against Enniscorth­y Town at Pearse Park on Sunday.

Ryan Heimsoth helped himself to a hat-trick in the 5-0 success, while Killian Tierney and Aaron Moorehouse added to their tally.

Mark Buckley bagged a treble for Rosslare Strand as they comfortabl­e overcame Fethard Rangers 6-2. Richard O’Reilly, Pierce Dooley and John Winters also hit the net for the hosts, while Christophe­r Molloy replied with a double.

Paddy O’Leary, Robert Dempsey (two) and Thomas Doyle got the goals for Glynn Barntown as they chalked up a 4-0 victory over Enniscorth­y United at Wexford Racecourse.

Elsewhere, Crossabeg AFC and Blackwater played out a 2-2 draw, with Aaron Lambert and Mark Heffernan scoring for the former and Thomas Murphy replying with a double.

Division 4

Cushinstow­n had their scoring boots on as they romped to a 7-2 success against New Ross Celtic at Terrerath Community Centre on Sunday.

Maurice Kehoe, Niall Gaffney, Pádraig Kavanagh, Ben Myers, Ian Kennedy, Jason Dunne and Conor Duggan all got on the scoresheet for the hosts, while Aaron Davis and Anthony Feeney replied.

Brian Martin, an own goal, Noel Dempsey and Michael O’Regan earned The Ballagh United a 4-1 win over Camolin Celtic. Tommy O’Leary netted for Celtic.

Abram O’Neill (two) and Liam Walsh got the goals for St. Cormac’s as they overcame Forth Celtic 3-1, with Anthony ‘Nibbs’ Hayes scoring for the Murrintown men.

Carne FC and Curracloe United came away with a point apiece after a 1-1 draw. Conor Gilbert fired Carne in front in the 28th minute, but Aidan Clarke converted a penalty with five minutes of normal time remaining to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Kiltealy Celtic saw off Shelburne United 3-0 with goals from Barry Mernagh (two) and Byron Jordan.
