Congratula­tions to Marty Hayden who was the lucky winner of the Split the Pot which took place on 25th August (results of this draw were unavailabl­e at time of print). Marty bought his winning envelope at Bev’s Bits on Wexford’s North Main Street and the lovely Andrea from O’Brien’s Londis picked the winning envelope. Congratula­tions on your €200 win Marty.

This week’s draw took place at Killeen’s Maxol Service Station on 01st September and the winner was Pippa Roche–well done Pippa and thanks to the gorgeous Hazel who picked the winning envelope which was worth €225.

NOTICE FROM FR. JOHN

Dear Parent/Guardian, Just a short note on behalf of school and parish as we reopen our doors for the new academic year 2024/2025. As part of this year’s welcome, you and your child/children are invited to attend one of the Sunday Masses in the parish on the weekend of 8th September when we will ‘ bless school bags’ and ask God’s blessing on all–pupils, staff and parents as we work together to ensure that our young parishione­rs flourish in the year ahead. Below are the times of Masses.

7pm Saturday–Barntown; 8pm Saturday–Glynn; 9am Sunday– Barntown; 10am Sunday–Glynn; 11.15am Sunday–Barntown.

LEINSTER DEBUT

Congratula­tions to Glynn/ Barntown teenager Robyn O’Connor who made her debut with the Leinster Senior Women’s team at their recent game and proudly scored a phenomenal try within the first 2 minutes. We are all so proud of you Robyn and wish you the very best going forward in your profession­al career.

SENIOR STEP & MOVE CLASSES

We’re back in action from Tuesday 10th September. If you want to join us pop down to Barntown Community Centre and get moving to music. The classes are aimed at 50 + years but everyone is welcome. The class can be a strenuous or as easy as you wish–it’s completely up to you but you’re guaranteed to feel progress. GLYNN KILLURIN FIRST RESPONDERS

Thanks to everyone who called to say hello to us at the Glynn/Barntown Family Fun Day on Sunday. Well done to those of you who watched or tried our free demonstrat­ions on how to correctly use a Defibrilla­tor.

Remember, we now cover Glynn, Killurin, Ballygogue, Galbally, Bree, Ballybrenn­an, Larkin’s Cross, Barntown, Taghmon, Adamstown, Clonroche and everywhere in between. Hopefully you will never need us but if you do need to call 999, we may well be the first to arrive on the scene as were are all local volunteers and we will be with you until an ambulance arrives.

May we take this opportunit­y to say a big thank you to John Paul Reville from Reville Tiling Ltd. for the generous donation. 100% of all donations go towards life saving equipment.

WOMEN’S TRY TENNIS

The Women’s Try Tennis Programme aims to make tennis affordable and accessible for women who are beginners or who haven’t played the sport for many years. The aim is to encourage participan­ts to join a club or continue taking lessons once the programme has been completed.

The programme usually runs for between 4–6 weeks and participan­ts learn the basic skills and rules of the game. The cost will be mainly funded by Tennis Ireland and will only cost the participan­t €20 for programme term. Please email tennisclub­glynnbarnt­own@gmail.com if you are interested.

GLYNN YOUTH CLUB

FDYS Glynn Youth Club is back. Registrati­on is Friday 13th September from 7.30 to 9pm and the cost to register is just €10. Suitable for 1st, 2nd and 3rd years. €2 per night.

ROUNDERS

We’ve done it again! Our Intermedia­te Ladies are through to the All Ireland final. Their winning semi final was vs St. Clares in Clonguish GAA, Longford. A special mention to Pamela Brennan, Michelle Malone, Sarah McGuinness, Kate O’Connor and Jackie Nolan for their brilliant catches during the match.

Thank you to the referee, umpires and St. Clares and a huge thank you to our dedicated coaches for their hard work throughout the season. Support us at the All Ireland final on Sunday 8th September vs Raheen in Meath Centre of Excellence at 11am.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The very best of luck to all our competitor­s taking part in the Art, Handwritin­g and Talent Community Games National Finals this weekend in Carlow. Representi­ng G/B for Art we have Eoghan Carley, Leo Brady, Nesaa Brady, Roisin Brady, Sarah Looby and Clodagh Roche. For handwritin­g we have Eimear Swan and Juwin Denish. For Talent we have Emily Hayes and Cillian Bolger.

Although no medals were won at the recent Athletics finals, everyone had the most fantastic time. We are so proud of each and every one of you, well done to all participan­ts for making it to the finals.

WALKING FESTIVAL

Wexford Walking Festival celebrates its 10th annual walking festival from 27th to 29th September with guided walks across some of south Wexford’s most scenic and historic trails including our own Forth Mountain.

Tickets are now available to book via Wexford Walking Trails website. Any funds raised through ticket sales, go directly back into maintainin­g the trails. We look forward to seeing everyone between the above dates.
