Joan will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her

JOAN Doyle (nee Whelan), aged 79, of 17 Distillery Road Distillery Wexford passed away on February 16, 2024 after a short Illness. She was predecease­d by her husband Michael (Mikey) Doyle in June 2014. She missed him greatly.

Joan was born in High Street ,Wexford on the March 24, 1944 to Bill and Lily Whelan. She was one of seven siblings. She worked in Codd’s Bookmakers and Eddie Slevin’s. She met Mike Doyle and they married in 1965. They raised their family in 17 Distillery Road where they had five children.

Joan reared her children all while Mikey worked hard painting all over the town. While the children were young, Joan spent her free time knitting. She made lovely jumpers for lots of loved ones and special occasions.

She loved going to bingo and dancing with Mikey. When the children grew up she went back to work as a housekeepe­r. She volunteere­d in SVP for the last 30 years. She loved her two shifts in the shop every week.

She loved meeting people and chatting with her friends Annette and Joan and many others. She also volunteere­d at the Opera House in Wexford. She loved going to shows there and everywhere. She loved going on trips with Mikey on Joe O’Brien Tours around Ireland and further afield. She also liked foreign holidays.

In the last two weeks of her life Joan attended Wexford General Hospital where she received great care from Dr Reardon and staff. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. She will be sorely missed by all her family, friends, brothers and sister and in-laws.
