GRAIGUENAM­ANAGH GRAIG NOTES

LOTTO DRAW

The numbers drawn in the Graig GAA and Highview Athletic lotto draw on July 29 were 9, 11, 13, 15. There was no winner. The following won €30 each: Sharon Holden, Kate Doyle, Maggie Foley, Tommy Ryan, Caitriona Sheehy.

Jackpot now stands at €20,000, and reserve Jackpot €7,600. Tickets are available from any club member.

GRAIG TIDY TOWNS DRAW

Winners on August 1 were: 1st Prize - Duiske Choir, €425; 2nd Prize - JJ Hickey, €50; 3rd Prize - Dan Malone, €25; 4th Prize - Pat Grennan, €25; 5th Prize - Mary Jordan Byrne, €25; 6th Prize - Ledia and Nuala Barron, €25; 7th Prize - Liz Brady, €25.

Money raised through Tidy Towns jackpot will be used to keep the town looking well all year round. Draw takes place in the Abbey Centre at 4 p.m. on Thursdays.

RAMBLING HOUSE

The monthly Rambling House is on the second Friday of the month in Newtown Hall, where you can enjoy music and song from local artists and also many from the surroundin­g districts also join in. The next session is on Friday August 9, at 8 p.m.

MASS TIMES

Mass times for Duiske Abbey, Graiguenam­anagh: Monday to Friday 10 a.m.; Saturday 7.30 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.

CLINIC

Cllr Peter Chap Cleere will have his clinic on Monday evenings from 7pm at his office in MainStreet, Graiguenam­anagh.

GUSSERANE HOLY HOUR

The Holy Hour in St John the Baptist Church, Gusserane is now six years in existence. Members of the public are always welcome to attend the adoration of the Blessed Eucharist. If you are interested spending some time in the church each Wednesday please let a member of the church committee know. The committee are very proud of the fact that the continuous holy hour adoration on Wednesdays has never been broken but are always open to new parishione­rs joining the rota.

LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner last week in the Tintern Lotto draw when the numbers drawn were 16, 21, 22 and 27. The match three winner was Anne Egan of Boley who collected €200. The jackpot this week stands at €4850.

All proceeds go towards the Tintern Community Sports Complex and your continued support is most welcome.

SHOP

Gusserane GAA now have a shop at Tom Somers Park in Gusserane for all matches, serving teas, coffees and other refreshmen­ts. For the moment it is cash only so throw a few euro in your pocket the next time you are at a game in the park.

NEWBAWN MONTHLY DRAW

The winners of the most recent monthly draw are as follows:

1st prize of €300 Kathleen O’ Sullivan, 2nd prize of €200 Mary Cullen, 3rd prize of €100 Ciarán Foley. The latest winner of the Split the Pot draw was Siobhán Murphy.

NEW ADMINISTRA­TOR

Newbawn Parish Council would like to welcome Fr Roger O’Neill as administra­tor of Newbawn parish. We look forward to working with him going forward.

THE LATE PEGGY COOPER

The people of Newbawn and beyond are very much saddened by the recent passing of Peggy Cooper (nee Lyng) of Ballinamon­a, Newbawn.

Along with all the other members of her family, she was very much involved in many sporting activities especially the GAA both at club and county level.

The local GAA club formed a guard of honour at the removal of her remains from her residence to the Church of the Sacred Heart on Monday 29th July.

Sympathy is extended to her husband Joe, sons John, MJ and Paul, daughter Anne-Marie, daughters in law Anne, Laura and Elisha, her grandchild­ren and all relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

RAMSGRANGE COMMUNITY PICNIC

Bring a picnic and blanket and enjoy a fun filled day celebratin­g our community on Wednesday 21st August, from 12pm-2pm in South West Wexford Family Resource Centre, Ramsgrange, Y34DP26. Join us for plenty of fun and games for all ages. Includes an exhibition from our present LTI learners and an “end of programme” celebratio­n for our Connect Café participan­ts and volunteers. All are welcome

OPW FREE WEDNESDAY

Did you know that access to many OPW-managed heritage sites is free on the first Wednesday of every month? There are two sites in Co Wexford that will be FREE of charge on Wednesday 7th August - Tintern Abbey and John F. Kennedy Arboretum. Locals and visitors alike are invited to come along and avail of this opportunit­y -maybe bring a picnic as both sites have picnic tables available.

TINTERN TRAILS FUNDRAISER

On Saturday 17th August, Irene Kelly will open her lovely Green Road Gardens to facilitate a fundraisin­g day in aid of the Tintern Walking Trails.

Along with getting an opportunit­y to experience the beauty of the garden, the day will also include an exhibition of bird photograph­s, taken by well known local photograph­er Liam Ryan, and a demo of walking stick making by Wexford man Pat Walsh. Copies of the photos and a sample of walking sticks will be available to buy at the event. There will be poetry readings and music provided by well known local piper, Ned Wall, and by Jim Doyle and his musician friends.

The event runs from 10am to 5pm. Entrance fee is €10 and this includes tea/coffee and home baking. All proceeds will go towards the ongoing maintenanc­e of Tintern Walking Trails .

St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange would be delighted if more people in our Community would like to avail of the services we offer.

Why not give yourself a day out to meet with friends, old and new, join in activities, or learn new ones, Bingo, Singing, Dancing, Art, Cards, but to name a few while enjoying delicious freshly prepared meals from our kitchen. Our Cook is here to assist with special dietary requiremen­ts. Our Nurse is on hand to deal with any minor medical issues. The services provided include bus collection, laundry, bakery, GP clinic, chiropody, hairdressi­ng, assisted showering, Meals on Wheels Monday to Friday. We like to think of St. Louis Day Care Centre as a home away from home where you will be warmly welcomed.

ST JAMES GAA

We are delighted to announce the new hurling wall is open for business and can be accessed from the walkway. There are many people we want to thank for their donations and their time. We are particular­ly grateful to Cyril O’Grady who managed and worked the project from beginning to end, cost-free for the club. Denis Cadogan who supplied the shutters and other equipment free of charge. Séamus O’Grady who supplied steel, labour and his insurance. Terry McDonald who donated a load of concrete, Paudie McDonald who donated steel. Richard and Jimmy on Grady, Shane Dunne, Muck Murphy, Robbie and Paul Barron and Willie O’Brien who gave of their time and equipment freely. Éamon from GPT who supplied the teleporter free of charge, Michael Banville and Peter O’Connor who supplied equipment and GMC who did the initial digging. ACTIVE RETIREMENT GROUP

There is no meeting in August (Summer Holiday Break). The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday 2nd September in South West Wexford Family Resource Centre at 2pm.

Some upcoming events: On Wednesday 21st August, there will be a Ramsgrange Community Picnic at SWWFRC (Y34 DP26). This FREE event will run from 12pm to 2pm and will be a fun family day to celebrate our local community. Please come along, bring a picnic, a blanket, and have a great afternoon.

On Wednesday 11th September we will have a Mystery Tour, the cost is €40. To book, contact Alexia, on 087 9462160.

In October, on a date to be decided, we will have Table Quiz. This is a home event and the cost is €10 per table of 6. Cash prizes. Contact Judith on 086 8110053.
