DAPPER GUEST LOOKS THE PART AT YARMOUTH

-

2.35 YARMOUTH

IT’S Yarmouth’s big fixture of the season this week, and the ground is likely to ride on the soft side of good.

The opening nursery is difficult, with improvers wherever you look, but DAPPER GUEST, from a yard that like to line one up for this week has to be one high on the shortlist.

Clueless on debut, he learnt plenty from that to finish midfield on good ground here and then ran to a very similar level at Newmarket last time, looking very much like the seventh furlong was now required.

A half-brother to the useful Azure Blue, he’s far from the finished article and I expect him to improve and take the win.

4.05 YARMOUTH AFLOAT is a dual C&D winner earlier in the season, and returned to form on soft ground at Brighton a week ago when second to the unexposed Carnival Day; that will have set her up nicely for this, which now looks like it was the target all along, given her course form.

4.35 YARMOUTH THERE’S not a lot of form among these on good to soft ground, but last year’s winner ALCAZAN will enjoy it.

Saddle

After an easily-forgivable run at York, where she made ground up on the unfavoured part of track, she returned to form at Goodwood a fortnight ago when a staying-on fourth to Durham Castle.

Saffie Osborne (pictured) is back in the saddle, taking over from a 5lb claimer, and she looks a bet at doublefigure odds.

5.05 YARMOUTH STONE CIRCLE has an admirable track record here, with three wins from nine starts, on ground ranging from good to firm to soft.

His mark is now 8lb lower than his last win here, and having now returned to form, being the only one to get near the improving Fletchers

Flight at Leicester last week, there’s no reason he can’t go well back at his most favoured venue.

5.40 YARMOUTH BERNARD Spierpoint is on a four-timer, but he has a record on yielding turf of 3585, and is opposable if the ground is still riding on the easy side at the end of the card.

Any of the other four are capable of beating him on their day, and of the four I like KURIMU best.

A winner on good to soft at Doncaster earlier in the year, she’s a strong traveller that will get a nice tow from Bernard Spierpoint and this drop back to 5f, whilst something of an unknown, could be what she wants.
