GET SET: Celebs ready to trek across South America
THE Ted Lasso star (31) said the race would be easy if you had a phone but being without his is the least of his worries. Asked about his dream race destination before the route was revealed, he said: “There are loads of places that would be amazing... as long as there’s no flying dragons. You know, I’ve seen some stuff on TikTok. Like spiders in the sky, just a sky of spiders, stuff out of your nightmares. Like dragonflies as big as this table.”
Mary said although they’re close, they’re going to bicker. She said: “He likes dry cold air. He loves the air con and I don’t. We’re already bickering.”
But the pair hope they can work together to win. Kola added: “It’s not so many times that you get to do something like this. I’ll get to see what we’re all about.”
NO FLIGHTS, no fancy hotels and absolutely no mobile phones: on Celebrity Race Across the World, it’s all about forgoing modern conveniences for the ultimate test of travel.
As the show returns to BBC One for a second series, four new celebrities will be braving an epic 12,500km journey across the length of South America.
Broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddie, actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen, model and broadcaster Kelly Brook and her husband, Jeremy, and BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiance), Sam, must relinquish their wallets and mobile phones and accept an allowance of cash. They must then pass through five checkpoints before they run out of money.
● Celebrity Race Across the World returns at 9pm on Wednesday, August 14, on BBC One and iPlayer.
