STREET STAR

- BY JANINE YAQOOB

WHEN unlucky-in-love Tyrone Dobbs walked down the aisle 18 months ago, Coronation Street fans rejoiced at his happy ending.

But actor Alan Halsall – who has played hapless Tyrone for almost 26 years – has now warned that his wedded bliss to Fiz ( Jennie Mcalpine) is under threat.

With the arrival of his love child Dorin on the cobbles, mechanic Tyrone is forced to face his cheating past this week when ex Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) turns up.

Alan says the plot will divide fans as they put the much-loved couple’s marriage to the test.

The 41-year-old actor says: “With Jennie being off on maternity leave, we haven’t really seen the domestic bliss of Ty and Fiz’s marriage, two kids and a nana.

“For it to be turned upside down so quickly and Alina to come back with a child on board – it’s going to divide a lot of people and that’s just within the house.

“Pardon the pun, but it’s a spanner in the works for Tyrone.”

So could this be the end of Corrie’s golden couple?

“He’s living this domestic bliss so the last thing he really wants is anything interrupting that.

“At first I think he just wants to dismiss it, it’s nothing to do with me and let’s just continue with our lives.”

Alan says the involvement of a child will definitely change things for Tyrone: “One thing I know about him is that over the years he’s definitely a family man and he wants to do right by his family and by his children.

“Once he knows there’s a child involved and that child maybe has something to do with him, he wants to try to do right and the right things.

“But Fiz has nothing to worry about. Tyrone did learn his lessons and we saw that clearly when they got back together and finally got married after so many times of breaking up.

“There have been plenty of occasions where Ty and Fiz have not been together but that’s bubbled on for 20 years.”

Corrie fans have loved tuning in to see the latest saga of their 22-year on-off relationship, willing them to live happily ever after.

The childhood sweethearts came close to marrying in 2015 when he proposed on Christmas Day. But when Tyrone’s debts came to light, the wedding was shelved.

The couple broke up in 2021, when he cheated on her with beautician Alina.

Fiz married serial killer John Stape (Graeme Hawley) in prison in 2009 and tied the knot with Phill Whittaker (Jamie Kenna) this year, only to dump him for Tyrone on her wedding night.

Tyrone has had two trips down the aisle, with Molly Compton (Vicky Binns) in 2009, and he made it as far as the church with abusive Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) before dumping her.

Off screen, Alan has not fared so well

when it comes to love. His five-year relationship with former Corrie co-star Tisha Merry, 31, ended earlier this year.

Alan was previously married to Hollyoaks actress Lucy-jo Hudson, 41, before their split in 2018. The pair have a 10-year-old daughter, Sienna.

Alan says he is grappling with fatherhood just like his character Tyrone as they both try to bring up strongwilled daughters.

“My daughter is younger than Hope in real life but obviously I am dealing with the same growing up,” he says.
