NO FLAW OF THE JUNGLE

Quinns’ sprinter can repeat last year’s heroics

-

BANG the Jungle drum for the Coral Racing Club Handicap.

JM JUNGLE (4.10) looked good when winning over this course and distance at this meeting last year. He went on to run sound races in hot handicaps at York and Haydock later in the season.

This year has not gone to plan. After a promising return to action in April, he’s yet to hit top gear but there were clear signs when fourth at the Curragh last month that he was on the way back.

He’s certainly become well handicapped and he looks to be running into form.

Lord Riddiford – also trained by John and Sean Quinn – is going for his fourth straight win in this race but his younger stablemate might just spoil the party. Have 1pt each-way at 9-1. Sky Bet is offering five places.

TONY MONTANA (1.50, right, purple silks) should put the frighteners on his rivals in the Coral Chesterfield Cup.

He stayed on well to finish third behind today’s favourite, Enfjaar, in the competitive John Smith’s Cup at York a couple of weeks ago.

That was even better than it looked as he had to come from further back than ideal after losing his position early on. He’d kicked off the season looking particularly progressive with wins at Chester and Windsor.

His Royal Ascot flop came when poorly drawn over 1m4f and he showed at York that he is much happier over this 1m2f distance. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. Most firms are going five places with Sky Bet stretching to a generous six.

KITAI (5.55) was sent off a red-hot favourite for this race 12 months ago when trained by Charlie Johnston but absolutely nothing went right from the moment she reared as the stalls opened.

She has become extremely well weighted and there was plenty of promise in her Newmarket run behind Star Of Lady My on her first run since March.

That was just her third start since joining trainer Mick Appleby and he tends to find the key to this kind of horse sooner rather than later.

She won in a higher grade than this race when an impressive winner at Pontefract last season and she has the ability to play a big role.

If she breaks on terms, the 16-1 on offer is going to look very big. Have 1pt each-way. Most bookies are paying four places. Sky Bet is going five.
