MADDIE SUSPECT’S ‘NIGHT-TIME RAIDS ON RESORT HOMES’
Brueckner scaled local buildings, court hears
MADELEINE Mccann suspect Christian Brueckner crept into properties at night to “take stuff” in the area where the young child vanished, a court heard yesterday.
The convicted rapist and paedophile is on trial in his native Germany accused of a string of sex crimes, including rapes and grabbing a girl on a Portuguese beach near where Maddie disappeared weeks later in Praia da Luz.
In video testimony shown at Braunschweig Regional Court, former pal Christian Post, 56, said: “He said during the night he was active in Praia da Luz and spoke about climbing up on buildings when the windows were open and he would take stuff. He said he climbed trees or scaled buildings.
“In the village and resort where Maddie was taken, there were trees and I think he said he was operating in that area.”
Post said he first thought Brueckner was a mechanic but later realised he was forging passports when he spotted three piles of them.
SHABBY
During three hours of taped evidence, Post also told how he removed CDS featuring depraved sex acts, including some involving children and animals, from Brueckner’s Portuguese home after he was jailed for stealing fuel.
Post said: “He asked me to look in the house and take two or three bags for him to an acquaintance.
“I put the bags in my car and saw CDS. The labels suggested there were things involving young people. I found it all too shabby, so I threw these away. I did not watch them. One thing I noticed involved dogs. I didn’t want to risk transporting something like this.”
He said he did not go to police, fearing the effect on the area’s German community. Post, now living in Cambodia, previously told the Mirror he is certain Brueckner took Maddie. Brueckner – who is serving seven years for a 2005 rape in Praia da Luz and lived near where the three-year-old vanished in 2007 – was named chief suspect in 2020 but denies any involvement and has not been charged.
Brueckner denies charges including child molestation and rape. The trial continues.
