A MAN from Madhya Pradesh's Guna district was allegedly abducted by a group of people, including his relatives, following a dispute and was taken to Rajasthan, where he was beaten up, forced to drink urine, and paraded in women’s clothing, police said Tuesday.

The group also allegedly tonsured the man’s head, tied him to a tree, and made him wear a garland of shoes.

The incident took place on May 22, and even though the alleged assault happened in Rajasthan, an FIR was registered in Guna late on Monday night because that was where he was abducted from, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjeev Sinha said. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from the man.

According to the complaint, the accused shot a video of the torture, shared it on social media, and demanded Rs 25 lakh from the man.

The complaint said the accused Saudan Singh, Guman Singh, and Omkar, along with 1012 others, “took the complainant away and assaulted him”. “They tonsured my head and made me drink urine, made me wear a garland made of shoes and blackened my face. They paraded me before the entire village. I was then tied to a tree and many acts were committed… Legal action must be taken against the accused persons or the complainant has no option but to end his life…,” the complaint read.

Senior police officers said the man was taken in a jeep to Jhalawar and Patan in Rajasthan, “where they beat him up, made him wear a garland of shoes and woman's clothes, and forced him to drink urine”.

After police came to know about the incident, the accused then set the man free on the condition that he would pay them Rs 20 lakh within three days, an officer said.

SP Singh said the FIR was registered against seven persons under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 506 (criminal intimidation), 365 (kidnapping) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention).
