Indore-Ujjain Metro by 2027, gets CM nod

Reviews Metro project of Bhopal & Indore; Vande Metro also on cards in big cities of the state

Metro train will be started between Indore and Ujjain. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has given his nod to the project during the review meeting of Bhopal and Indore Metro projects on Saturday. The IndoreUjja­in Metro train would prove very useful for pilgrims during Simhasta 2028.

CM said that feasibilit­y report has been received in connection with Indore-Ujjain Metro train project. As far as Bhopal Metro project is concerned, the work of laying total 16.74 km long metro line, from AIIMS till Karond Square will be done in three phases. The first phase is of 7 km which covers eight elevated stations. It was informed in the meeting that Indore Metro work is goin on and work of 31.32 km metro line is being laid. Total 28 metro stations will be constructe­d in Indore.

Speaking about the smooth traffic arrangemen­t for big cities, he said that along with metro train facility in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain, Vande Metro train, ropeway, electric bus and cable car like facilities will also be used. In the coming time, Vande Metro facility from Indore airport to Mahakal temple will provide huge relief to pilgrims.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav informed that in the recent discussion with Union Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, consent was received to run Vande Metro in different cities of the state. The discussion with Vaishnaw was focused on operation of Vande Metro train and to provide benefit to industrial areas like Dewas and Pithampur. Vande Metro runs at higher speed than the metro train. It uses railway track of common trains.
