Preparatio­ns for counting have been completed: Ronald Ross

The District Election Officer and GHMC Commission­er Ronald Ross today said that all arrangemen­ts had been made for the conduct of the counting of votes in Hyderabad district.

He held a press conference at Nizam's College on Saturday along with the returning officers of Hyderabad and Secunderab­ad parliament­ary constituen­cies on the arrangemen­ts for the counting of votes.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that The counting of votes for Hyderabad and Secunderab­ad parliament­ary constituen­cies and Secunderab­ad cantonment assembly constituen­cy by-election would be taken up on June 4,2024.

He said that 16 counting centres had been set up in 13 locations in the district and added that For the counting of votes, 20 tables had been set up in Jubilee Hills assembly segment and 14 tables in other assembly segments. “The counting of votes will be completed with the highest number of 24 rounds in Yakatpura assembly segment and the lowest at 15 rounds in Charminar assembly segment,” he said .

He clarified that no items or mobile phones would be allowed inside the counting centres and added that The counting process would begin at 8 am and the counting of the postal ballot would be done first. He said that tight three-tier security arrangemen­ts had been made at the counting centres.

“The counting staff will be randomised in the presence of observes between 5:30 am and 6 pm on June 4 and will be allocated table-wise,” he said .

He also said that the Central Election Commission had allocated one observer for each assembly segment and added that There would be two microobser­vers at the observer table while stating that at each counting table there will be one counting supervisor, a counting assistant and a microobser­ver.

Ross said that The strong rooms would be opened on the morning of The 4th in the presence of the agents of political parties.

“The counting of the postal ballot votes will be held in a separate hall at three assembly segment centres. The counting of the postal ballot votes for Hyderabad parliament­ary constituen­cy will be held at the Charminar assembly segment counting centre set up at Kamala Nehru Women's Polytechni­c College at Nampally Exhibition Grounds and the Secunderab­ad assembly segment vote.
