Nursing students in Lakshadweep hope better transportation facilities, field exposure

Lakshadweep is heading for Lok Sabha polls on Apr 19. Nursing students in a local college here hope for better transportation facilities with the mainland and seek exposure to study different cases in their field.

Expressing concerns, a second-year BSc nursing student Saniya told ANI, "I am from Lakshadeep but there are students who are from other places and they face travel issues because vessels are few and tickets are also not easily available. These are the issues with ship vessels."

Saniya will cast her vote for the first time in polls and is excited about the participation and to know about the electoral process.

Sharing her sentiments, a third-year BSc nursing student named Bitty, who hails from Kerala's Wayanad, said, "As nursing students, we are not getting proper exposure related to patients and the island population is less. We expect better posting outside Lakshadweep so that we can get more exposure to cases and study better."

Echoing a similar sentiment, Minha, who is also in a third-year BSc nursing course, said, "Students are facing practical exposure issues, especially in the medical field. We are the first batch of the college and expect more faculty and scholarships for our students."

Minha hopes for faster and better reforms in the medical field, which can provide better exposure.

Lakshadweep, the country's smallest Lok Sabha constituency, in terms of the number of voters, will go to polls in the first phase on the Apr 19.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha election in the union territory of Lakshadweep will witness a triangular fight between the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Congress, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP supported by the BJP.

To raise awareness ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, students in Moradabad engaged in creating sand art and paintings as per the Election Commission's initiative, aiming to inspire voters' participation.

With Moradabad scheduled for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the district administration is actively striving to boost voter turnout through various initiatives.

On the instructions of the District Administration and Election Commission, a painting competition was held in the school in Moradabad.

Students made the sand art with the slogan "Chunav ka parv desh ka garv" written on it.

Children also painted their faces with messages to create awareness of voting among the public.

Mohammad Amaan, a teacher at the school, told ANI, "Elections are going to start from Apr 19, so our students have made sand art and paintings. Through this, we want to give a message in Moradabad. Our painting on flexi is more than 19 metres. Our aim is to create awareness among people about voting."

Manya, a student said, "We have made paintings to make people aware about voting on Apr 19. People above 18 years of age should vote."

Uttar Pradesh, which sends the maximum number of MPs, 80, will go to polling for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in seven different phases starting from Apr 19 to June 1.

The voting for the Moradabad Lok Sabha seat will be held in the first phase on Apr 19.
