ABVP lays siege to CM House, meets Yadav over RGPV scam
Agitated over no arrest of main accused behind financial irregularity at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarti Parishad (ABVP) staged demonstration outside Chief Minister’s residence here on Sunday.
The members of ABVP raised the slogans to press for their demand and questioned police efficiency for failing to nail down the main accused including exVC Sunil Kumar, ex -registrar RS Rajput and ex-financial controller Rishikesh.
During demonstration, ABVP workers had a scuffle with policemen. Later, national ABVP general secretary Shalini Verma, state secretary Sandeep Vaishnaw met Chief Minister
Mohan Yadav and apprised him about the situation.
“CM said he would speak to senior police officials and ensure arrest of absconding accused as soon as possible,” Vaishnaw told Free Press.
He added that though the case was registered a month ago, key accused were not arrested. “This puts a question mark on the efficiency of the police and indicates that accused enjoys political patronage,” he added.
He said ABVP would launch statewide agitation if accused were not arrested soon.
ABVP workers also staged demonstration at the residence of technical education minister Inder Singh Parmar and submitted the memorandum to his representative.
A sum of Rs 19.48 crore was allegedly siphoned off from the university accounts and deposited in other accounts by the accused and their accomplices.
