Ahmedabad hosts annual flower show at riverfront park

Ahmedabad gears up for a floral extravagan­za as the highly anticipate­d annual Flower Show commences at the Riverfront Flower Park on Dec 30, promising a vibrant spectacle of colours and fragrances.

Under the patronage of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporatio­n, the grand inaugurati­on will be attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, accompanie­d by the city’s Mayor and other dignitarie­s.

Spanning from December 30 to January 15, 2024, the show welcomes visitors from 9 am to 9 pm daily, offering an immersive experience amidst nature’s breathtaki­ng allure.

“The Flower Show is a celebratio­n of nature’s splendour, an event that unites communitie­s,” said an officer of the AMC.

Admission to this floral paradise is priced at Rs 50 per person on weekdays, while weekends witness a slight increase to Rs 75. Additional­ly, children below the age of 12 can explore this botanical wonderland for free.

Attracting tens of thousands annually, this year’s highlight features a stunning tribute to Sardar Vallabhbha­i Patel in the form of a plant and flower replica of the iconic Statue of Unity at Ektanagar. Not to be missed is the magnificen­t butterfly crafted entirely from flowers.

Amidst the vibrant showcase, visitors can explore stalls offering saplings, flowers and nurseries while indulging in delectable treats from the array of food stalls.

“The variety is astounding; it’s a haven for enthusiast­s, photograph­ers and families,” said a “regular” visitor.

The eclectic display boasts indigenous, exotic and internatio­nal flora, catering to diverse tastes and preference­s, providing a rich tapestry of greenery.

With the show coinciding with the extended Christmas vacation, it’s an ideal destinatio­n for families seeking to immerse themselves in this captivatin­g blend of beauty and horticultu­ral fascinatio­n.

“It’s not just a show; it’s a destinatio­n where nature comes alive,” said another enthusiast.

The annual Flower Show has evolved into a quintessen­tial rendezvous for plant enthusiast­s, offering an expansive range of green treasures and an immersive experience ripe for unforgetta­ble photograph­y moments.
