PCMC CP Choubey’s live Q&A addresses traffic, cybersecurity, and juvenile offenses
In a unique initiative, Pimpri-Chinchwad's Police Commissioner, Vinoy Kumar Choubey, took an interactive approach to address citizens' issues and concerns in a live Q&A session on X (formerly Twitter) this past Friday.
Covering a spectrum of issues from traffic violations to cyber frauds, Choubey's engagement resonated deeply with the city's residents.
One pressing topic that was discussed was safeguarding children from online threats. Choubey emphasised the importance of open communication, educating youngsters on responsible social media usage, and leveraging available parental controls as crucial measures to mitigate risks.
Another important issue that emerged during the session was wrong-way driving in the city. Expressing concern about the ensuing traffic chaos and safety hazards, a resident brought attention to the prevalent problem. Choubey responded by highlighting the issuance of 5,540 challans this year alone for this violation. He also pledged intensified enforcement to curb this dangerous behavior.
Another citizen highlighted the reckless racing on the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) lanes, citing the absence of traffic police at Punawale junction. Choubey acknowledged the issue, revealing that approximately 3,000 actions had been taken against vehicles involved in dangerous driving in BRTS lanes. He assured that active measures were underway to address this concern.
Addressing juvenile crimes, Choubey detailed 'Disha,' an initiative designed to guide and train 550 youngsters through sports and counseling programs to deter such offenses.
In a bid to tackle the surge in online fraud, Choubey introduced the 'Be a Cyber Commando' initiative, calling for volunteers to combat this growing threat. He stressed the collective need for vigilance, highlighting the rising occurrences of online task frauds.
Choubey's interactive session underscored the commitment of the PimpriChinchwad police in addressing multifaceted concerns. The engagement not only highlighted the challenges faced by citizens but also showcased proactive strategies and initiatives undertaken by the police department to foster a safer and more secure community.
