Conspiracy to tarnish Pilot’s image: Cong MLA
BARMER: Congress leader and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot has all the leadership qualities and a conspiracy was hatched to tarnish his image, senior Congress leader Harish Chaudhary on Tuesday.
“Sachin Pilot has leadership qualities. I salute his abilities. I have never been part of any coalition or alliance of deceivers. But a well-planned conspiracy was hatched to tarnish his image by a few people,” said the Bayatoo MLA without naming anyone while speaking to the reporters in Barmer.
The development came months after the former chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s OSD Lokesh Sharma shared an audio clip with the media in which the former CM was heard directing Sharma to damage his electronic devices through which he circulated three audio clips containing the telephonic conversation ofUunion minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Sanjay Jain, and Congress MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma discussing the selling of the lawmakers on social media amid a political crisis in the state in July 2020, as per Gehlot’s order.
Two days before the second phase of the general elections in
Rajasthan, Sharma, on April 24, held a press conference and claimed that Gehlot himself gave him those three audio clips. He also alleged that the phones of Pilot, his loyalists, and also a few loyal MLAs of Gehlot himself were also tapped during the crisis when the former deputy CM allegedly rebelled against the government with 19 MLAs.
Chaudhary said: “If phonetapping has occurred, it is highly unethical. A person who commits unethical acts is not suitable for leadership. Regardless of who tapped the phone, they are not a suitable person. The question is whether phone-tapping happened and who did it. Both questions need a thorough probe.”
Responding to the question on Pilot, he said: “His demand was to ensure participation of his MLAs and workers based on reason. He is a follower of Rahul Gandhi, not Narendra Modi. People within Congress consider him an ideal.”
