Abducted boy rescued from Muzaffarpu­r

PATNA: A 17-year-old boy, son of a furniture trader, who was abducted for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Begusarai on Tuesday evening, was rescued by the police on Wednesday at Nimtalla Chowk which falls under the jurisdicti­on of Sakra police station of Muzaffarpu­r district.

According to police, two persons, including the abductee’s cousin sister who is the mastermind of the incident, have been arrested and they have been identified as Awadhesh Kumar Choudhary and his girl friend Kajal Kumari--all residents of Muzaffarpu­r district. Kajal is the cousin sister of the abducted boy.

“A team was formed to investigat­e the matter and within a few hours, vehicles used in the kidnapping case was identified along with the driver. All the accused have been booked under sections 364 (kidnapping), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Mansoor Chak police station, “said Begusarai superinten­dent of police (SP), Maneesh.

As per the victim’s father Surendra Kumar, the incident took place on Monday evening when his son did not return home after recharging his cell phone. When his cell phone was found switched off, he immediatel­y informed the local police about his disappeara­nce.

“I came to know about his kidnapping after the kidnappers called me from an unknown number on Wednesday morning and informed about the abduction. The caller said that his son is in his captivity,” said Surendra. Soon after getting the ransom call, the panicked family members rushed to the police station. Kajal is said to ba an LLB student while the abducted boy is a class 10 student.

“Four car-borne criminals had kidnapped the boy at pistol point and kept him hostage in a rented house at Nimtalla Chowk. Kajal and her boyfriend hired four abductors and paid Rs 2 lakh each in advance, “said a police officer.
