LMC RESOLVES 62 CASES OF INFLATED HOUSE TAX BILLS
LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) organised GIS (Geographical Information System) Samadhan Diwas (Resolution Day) to address objections over tax assessments made through a GIS survey of buildings in the city, at Trilokinath Hall of LMC headquarters on Friday.
Building owners were invited to submit written objections, evidence, and current photographs of their buildings.
Ali Shaukat Ali, a resident of Kandhari Baja, had been facing difficulties in correcting his house tax. However, he managed to get the amount reduced from Rs 36,720 to Rs 8,775 in just a matter of minutes. Similarly, Om Prakash Singh, a resident of the Sector-19 Indira Nagar, experienced a significant reduction in his house tax bill from Rs 16,443 to Rs 6095.
Most objections were related to the map area tax assessment, where the house tax was calculated to be much higher. According to LMC rules, the tax was calculated as per the carpet area for which the assessment was done, and the amount was reduced after checking, said an LMC official.
In the Samadhan Diwas, the settlement was done on the spot by immediately calculating and checking. As many as 62 objections were received zone-wise from all the 8 zones, and all were resolved on the spot, according to LMC press note.
Municipal commissioner Indrajit Singh said the GIS Samadhan Diwas will be organised every Friday and this will continue till all GIS cases are disposed of.
Senior officials, including additional municipal commissioners, chief tax assessment officer, zonal officers, tax superintendents, revenue inspectors, and the GIS survey team participated in the event.
