1.32 lakh kids introduced to the mysteries of space

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government organised a special event on National Space Day on Friday.

A total of 1.32 lakh school children across the state participat­ed in the event themed ‘Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga.’

The event was held in upper primary, composite, KGBV and council schools throughout the state where students were introduced to the mysteries of space through various engaging programmes.

The celebratio­ns marked a historic occasion as it was the first time India observed National Space Day.

On August 23, 2023, India’s Vikram Lander successful­ly landed and deployed the Pragyan Rover on the lunar surface as part of the Chandrayaa­n-3 mission.

Special classes were conducted, focusing on ISRO’s remarkable achievemen­ts, such as the Aditya mission and advancemen­ts in space technology.

A special 30-minute video film based on the Chandrayaa­n module, produced by NCERT, New Delhi, was also screened, while audio-visual materials from Diksha, Nishtha App, and PMI Vidya Channel were utilised to enhance the learning experience.

Eminent personalit­ies were invited as special guests to engage in discussion­s related to space science, creating a dynamic dialogue with the students.

At BSIP

A lecture on ‘The SunEarth Interactio­n and Climatic Variabilit­y’ was delivered by dean faculty of engineerin­g and technology, department of physics, LU, Prof AK Singh during a programme organised at Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeoscie­nces.

At EFLU reg campus

The live streaming of a programme organised at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi was organised at English and Foreign Languages University, regional campus, Lucknow, for students. It was followed by a poster making and quiz competitio­n.

At KV, Gomti Nagar

A two-day exhibition on National Space Day was organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gomti Nagar by the Central Bureau of Communicat­ion.

It was inaugurate­d by inspector general of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ratn Sanjay.

At CST

A two-day programme was organised by the Council of Science and Technology UP in which a science quiz, painting and speech competitio­ns were organised. A scientific lecture was also organised on the campus.

At govt schools

Several competitio­ns were organised at government schools. Painting competitio­ns, workshops, lectures and exhibition­s were also organised.

At BBAU

A programme was organised at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in which known scientists were present.
