A minor boy kept the city police on its toes and had the top brass stationed in Lucknow’s Jankipuram Extension Sector J area on Thursday, as he threatened to shoot himself using his father’s licenced firearm.

The boy locked himself in a room in the house with the weapon and refused to come out even after over six hours.

“Prima facie it appears as if the boy is either in depression or plagued by some psychological issues. A psychologist has also been called. The boy is not ready to talk at all,” DCP North Abhijith R Shankar said, adding that the boy unlocked the almirah of the house where the firearm was kept and then went inside his room, saying that the exact reason is still unclear why the boy took the step.

At the time of filing of this report, the boy was still locked in, refusing to come out, or talk to anyone.

The boy, identified as Krishna, locked himself in the house at around 3 o’clock in Kursi Road’s Sulabh Awas area. The 17-yearold, Class 12 student, even fired twice inside the room, refusing to unlock himself despite repeated requests from the cops and family members.

Teams from Gudamba police, Indira Nagar police and ACP, Ghazipur, Anindaya Vikram Singh along with the DCP reached the spot with the force to convince the boy.
