Nothing can compare to the moment I saw Tanya in her bridal outfit: Tanuj
Actor Tanuj Virwani tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend, actor Tanya Jacob, earlier this week — and he can still feel the magic of the day. He tells us, “The entire wedding, the ceremonies, functions, guests and all the love and positivity were so memorable. You build up all these things in your head ki ‘aisa hoga vaise hoga’, but when it actually happens, it is extremely special. I had to pinch myself the next morning; it was that perfect!”
The couple had a daytime wedding at Virwani’s family farmhouse in Lonavala. The most emotional moment, he recalls, was when he first saw Jacob in her bridal outfit. “Nothing can compare to that moment. I remember my friends asking me why I wasn’t nervous. But, if you know in your heart that the best possible thing is happening, you get fewer jitters,” says Virwani, who is actor Rati Agnihotri’s son.
The couple hosted a ball a day before the wedding, followed by a Malayali-style wedding on December 25. “We didn’t have a conventional wedding, so we combined the sangeet and reception. There were dance performances from both sides. My mum, Tanya and I danced to a medley of mum’s greatest hits. I was a little scared because I didn’t really get the time for rehearsal. But, I somehow managed to do it and everyone was so happy!” recounts the 37year-old, adding, “My dad (actor-producer Anil Virwani) surprised me with a solo performance. He danced to Ramta Jogi from Taal (1999) and Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai from Tu
Jhoothi Main Makkaar.”
Talking about the journey ahead, the
Inside Edge actor says, “Tanya had already been living with me in Mumbai. We had taken the permission from our parents. Having said that, I am excited to start this new phase with her. There will be many more responsibilities now. Marriage is not a bed of roses; it requires nurturing.”
As the couple embarks on their honeymoon to Europe, Virwani tells us, “We are first going to Paris, then flying to Prague and catching a train to Vienna, wrapping it up with Budapest. Tanya and I were on the same page that abhi shaadi ka mauhaul hai, we should go right now, not two-three months later like a lot of couples do.”
