2-month ‘Stop Diarrhoea’ drive across TN from July
CHENNAI: The state health department will conduct the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 from July 1, 2024, to 31 August 31, 2024, across Tamil Nadu with a goal of achieving zero deaths in connection to Acute Diarrheal Diseases (ADD) in children under age five.
The campaign under the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine will be launched in consultation with the district collector and District Health Officers will coordinate the campaign.
As part of this campaign, the district-level coordination committee meeting will be conducted under the chairmanship of the district collector along with the health department.
Several other departments including School Education, Rural Development, Social Welfare, Women Empowerment Development, and stakeholders like the Indian Academy of Paediatrics will participate in the campaign.
The district health officers have been requested to prepare the operational plan for the district health unit. Each district health officer will lift the ORS and Zinc tablets concerning the quantity allotted for each district health unit. Tablets are made available in all government hospitals and medical college hospitals on the district level.
The department also said sensitisation meetings and training will be conducted for all block-level field staff, staff of government hospitals and medical college hospitals.
The health department aims to identify the highrisk and vulnerable populations and enumerate them before the beginning of the campaign, along with the line listing of all children in the under-five category. According to the health department, the district health units will be provided necessary funds to conduct the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2024 programme under the National Health Mission.
