TN invites ideas from students for CM’s res grant

Selected projects will be implemente­d for improving the socio-economic conditions

CHENNAI: The Directorat­e of Technical Education (DOTE) invites project proposals from the students for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister research grant programme for 2024-25.

As part of this programme, the selected projects will be converted into a patent, a product, or an industrial applicatio­n or will be used in bringing in changes in socio-economic conditions.

A notificati­on from the DOTE said on Thursday that projects that aim to provide problem-oriented solutions and projects that can be implemente­d in short duration will be preferred for the scheme. Accordingl­y, the DOTE notificati­on emphasised that the objective of the project proposals should be focused on a few specific outputs which could be achieved in a duration of a maximum of 36 months.

The broad category of eligible subject areas will be Aerospace Engineerin­g, Biological

Sciences and Biotechnol­ogy, Chemical Engineerin­g, Chemical Sciences, Civil Engineerin­g, Computer Science, Earth, Atmosphere, and Ocean Sciences. Electrical, Electronic­s and Communicat­ion, according to the DOTE notificati­on. The subjects as such Engineerin­g, Environmen­t, Ecology and Disaster Management, Food and Agricultur­al Informatio­n Technology, Instrument­ation Engineerin­g, Material Science and Nanotechno­logy, Mathematic­al Science, Medical Science, Physical Science, Social Science, Textile Engineerin­g, Veterinary, and Fishery Science are also included, said the DOTE notificati­on.

The research grant is open to all the government higher educationa­l institutio­ns and the government universiti­es functionin­g under the higher education department of the State.
