Bullets riddle defending champion Swag in quarterfinal battle

-

Silver Bullets ensured that a new champion will be crowned in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden edition, as they defeated titleholder Swag Entertainment 1-0 in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday evening at the Christianburg hard-court.

Colwyn Drakes, a former member of Swag Entertainment, was the difference on the night, as he found the back of the net in the eighth minute to seal the win in front of a large gathering. With the win, the Silver Bullets unit will now take aim at Spaniards in the semifinal round on Monday at the Retrieve hard court.

The Spaniards earned their place in the final four section following a 1-0 win over YMCA. Shaka Lewis etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 17th minute.

Meanwhile, Turf President and Hardball Management will contest the other semifinal affair following contrasting quarterfinal victories. Turf President brushed aside the Pro Ballers by a 3-0 score.

Kelroy Anthony registered a ‘Guinness Goal’ [a goal scored in the final three minutes of normal time counts as two] in the 29th minute, after Anthony Layne had broken the deadlock in the ninth minute.

Meanwhile, Hardball Management downed Excuse the Rush 2-0 via second-half conversions from Terry Phillip and Roshon Kitt. The winner of the tournament will walk away with $500,000 and the championship trophy. They will also earn an automatic berth to the national championship, which is pencilled for August in Georgetown.

Meanwhile, the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will pocket $400,000, $300,000, and $250,000 apiece and the corresponding accolade. The tournament is also sponsored by Colours Boutique, who have provided the playing kits for the entirety of the season.
