Guyana in control after bundling out CCC for 200

The Guyana Harpy Eagles trail the Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners by a mere 86 runs when round seven of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Four-Day Championsh­ip commenced yesterday at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, Trinidad and Tobago.

The Guyanese sit on 114/1 after dismissing the Marooners for 200 in 55.5 overs, with Raymond Perez unbeaten on 61 and Kevlon Anderson undefeated on 27. Tagenarine Chanderpau­l was dismissed for 12.

Guyana’s dominant position was engineered by their bowling lineup, as Nial Smith was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-42, while the experience­d Veerasammy Permaul snared 3-51. Chipping in with figures of 240 and 2-45, respective­ly, were Gudakesh Motie and Isai Thorne.

Demario Richards scored the most for the Marooners with 43 runs, while Romario Greaves was the next best scorer with 36 runs.

Meanwhile, at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua and Barbuda, the West Indies Academy trail by 44 runs after ending the first day on 111/4 in pursuit of Barbados’s first inning score of 155. Ackeem Auguste is unbeaten at 67.

Over at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad and Tobago, the Windward Islands Volcanoes sit on 6/1, 294 runs adrift of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes first inning score of 300. Mikyle Louis led the Hurricanes with an even 100, while Jewel Andrew was the next top scorer with 68 runs. Supporting 43 was Jeremiah Louis. Ryan John was the pick of the bowlers with a 367.

At the Sabina Park facility in Jamaica, the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force sit on 308/7 against the Scorpions. Joshua DaSilva led the batting with 106, while Amir Jangoo and Kjorn Ottley added 51 and 45 runs, respective­ly. Pete Salmon snared a 2-68 for the home side.
