‘Days Like Dese’ back with fourth season

Yesterday for half an hour GEMS Theatre Production­s in collaborat­ion with NCN TV commenced the presentati­on of the popular TV sitcom ‘Days Like Dese’, on NCN TV 11 from 5 pm with a repeat broadcast tomorrow at 9.30 am.

The local Guyanese sitcom returns to the television screen with 13 half-hour episodes every Saturday for 13 weeks with a new episode and repeated on Mondays. This is Season Four of the show. Seasons One to Three were aired from 2018 to 2020. There was an absence of the sitcom following Covid.

A release from GEMS Theatre said that the 39 episodes of the sitcom previously aired are available on YouTube.

Actors in Season Four are Ron Robinson, Mark Kazim, Nathaya Whaul, Shenadia Ferrier, Linden Whaul, Safira Abrahim-Williams, Makaya Smith, Aletha Grant, Simone Dowding, Mark LukeEdward­s, Rajan Tiwari, Tieanna Jordan, Kirk Jardine, Melissa Morgan and Brandon Singh.

Giving an insight into Season Four,

GEMS Theatre said that viewers will see the Rupaul family enjoy some of the recreation­al sights of Guyana and visit the country’s ancient county.

“Grandpa Rue takes his adopted grandson on a tour of Georgetown to see the last remains of our garden city before it is overtaken by developmen­t. David Rupaul is promoted and he and family move to their own home and get a new housekeepe­r,” the release said.

It added that in the season David meets up with his longtime police friend, Jack, who returns from the interior and wants to get back with his longtime girlfriend, Maybelle, who was David’s family housekeepe­r and is now Grandpa Rue’s housekeepe­r. Jack and Maybelle had lost touch with each other.

Other informatio­n provided indicated that David and Susan will hire a new maid while Uncle Sunny gets a new girlfriend and they are seriously together into big time farming.

The release said this season also examines family togetherne­ss and good relationsh­ips

between all members of a household. The growing tension between Venezuela and Guyana and the Rupauls reaction to this situation and its effect on them and their patriotic commitment to their country are also explored.

In dealing with the Venezuelan situation, the sitcom aims to educate audiences and give them a clearer understand­ing of the situation.

The sitcom is written by Kirk Jardine and Gem Madhoo-Nascimento and directed by Madhoo-Nascimento.
