JONATHAN Hill knocked out his opponent, Rupeni Rokoratu in round two of the South PaciƝc Boxing Promotion at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.

Hill took down the giant Rokoratu after a punch on his chest.

Hill said there was a 10-kilogram difference between him and his opponent but was adamant of defeating him.

“I knew he came in to take me out due to the kilograms gap difference,” he said.

He compared the bout to David and Goliath.

“The game was between a middle and heavy weight.”

He said he took his opponent down with a body shot.

“I tried to make him tired in the Ɲrst round and then gave him his body shot. The shot the Hill is known for.”

He said his opponent was a good Ɲghter but did not have a lot of composure.

“If there is a lot of competition held here in Labasa then they’ll give us tough competitions.”

AFTER two years returning to the ring, Junior Koya won his boxing match over Jone Tagimei by a technical knockout.

Tagimei threw in the towel in round two of the match after blood was appearing on his nose.

He had also told his coach he wasn’t able to Ɲght anymore.

In an interview with this newspaper, he said, he had trained hard for a month for the bout.

“It feels incredible to be back in the ring and to win like this,” he said.

“I’ve been training hard and working on my skills during my time away, and I’m thrilled to see that it all paid off.”

He said farming helped him with his Ɲtness.

“This was also a way of training for me and a self reƞection.”

He said he would work in areas he would need to improve on in order to put another good pout.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the ring and continuing to improve.

“There’s a lot more I want to achieve, and today was just the beginning.”
